Day 16 - Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs


Day 16

ANKLE NO BUENO

I rubbed Bengay all over but for some reason my ankle is feeling weak again...no real support keeping it secure. I need to find my other brace. My left ankle is starting to act up again so I only got through 3/4 of the workout. 

PURE CARDIO 


I can't do switch kicks because they hurt my ankle. I can do a few back to back but then I gotta just do regular high kicks with no jumping. Overall my body is just not ready to jump back in again. I still dance and workout but I need to recover a better way. 

Cardio Abs

Ok so I totally did cardio abs with my mom...it wasn't too too bad but I got Hip Hop Abs too so what what!  Double my workouts now. So I did Pure Cardio one day, Hip hop Abs Cardio the next day and Hip Hop Abs Cardio and Cardio Abs today. Mind you it is a couple days since I did Pure Cardio. My arms were burning more than my abs but I could feel my abs working so yes Hip Hop Abs work. You should get it. Well, I'm behind in Insanity but on board with Hip Hop Abs so I'll try to catch up until then PEACE OUT!

Day 15 - Plyometric Cardio Circuit

I had to get ready for my 1pm shift so I didn't get to finish it all. Mom did, but I got most of it. It's all good. I was on my feet all day pretty much so it made up for the 2 rounds of basketball jumps sequence. I just got home from a busy day but I'll tell you that I have become stronger and lazier at the same time lol! I can't wait to do the Hip Hop Abs because I'm going to need something else to keep my mind going. I get bored easily. But anywho, looks like Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs manana...so until then PEACE OUT!

Day 14 - Fit Test #2

HOLY COW!

Alright so my mom and I did the Fit Test for the 2nd time. I am still out of breath but we both improved from the first week. Man I really pushed it this time around. I was going to try to do another workout but I'd be really killing myself if I tried so I will rest the rest of the night. Here are my results:

RESULTS (Day 1)  (Day 14) 
Switch Kick = 104 115
Power Jacks = 48 71 
Power Knee = 106 116
Power Jumps = 36 43
Globe Jumps = 11 16
Suicide Jumps = 16 18
Push Up Jacks = 9 25
Knee Ins Plank= 40 60

IMPROVEMENT

So as you see I improved a lot and some areas and some in the other areas. Switch Kicks: I had an 11% improvement. Power Jacks: I had a 23% improvement. Power Knee: I had a 10% improvement. Power Jumps: I had a 7% improvement. Globe Jumps: I had a 5% improvement. Suicide Jumps: I didn't improve too too much but got a 2% improvement.  Push Up Jacks: This surprised me. I guess I am gaining my abs and arm strength. I have a 16% improvement. Knee Ins Plank: I had a 20% improvement. So I improved the most of the power jacks and not as much on the Suicide Jumps. So hey not too bad for doing this for 2 weeks. Can't wait for the results of the next Fit Test after another 2 weeks. YAY!! Until then PEACE OUT!!!

Day 13 - Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs

MY BUTT!!

My butt hurts. I just did cardio abs for the first time. yeah its pretty hard on the knees and not to mention my butt hurts more than my abs it should be called cardio butt not cardio abs. And the twists, I do that with my kids so its not like I'm doing anything that I'm not already doing. Oh well, gotta love the ab work though it doesn't take too long lol... well anywho it wasnt too bad now off to salsa rehearsals I go.

Day 12 - Cardio Power & Resistance

Yay! I did it! But this is only the beginning. I have to make up for my injury. I still need to do Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs. Oh man I hope I'll be able to do it. I'm going to get a Jamba Juice for my mom and I since I have a coupon. By one get one free. YAY! :) I can't wait. Then I'm going to come home, relax, read my book and relax some more.

I think the only thing that was hard to do was keep my butt down on the moving push ups. But other than that I feel great I feel my body getting strong. I'm saying no to all Shaun T's questions but I'm still going. "Are you ready?" "no.." "One more set, alright?!" "no" But I'm still going as strong as I can. Ankle doing better...put a brace on just in case. Still doing it not giving up! Pray for me to keep going. Til later...PEACE OUT!!

Day 11 - Cardio Recovery

The cardio recovery wasn't as bad as it was the first day. My quads don't hurt as much. So glad because I have to do a salsa competition tonight and I need my legs. I am about 2 days behind because of my injury so I'll have to catch up and not have a rest day. But yeah mom did cardio recovery with me today. That was cool well, til tomorrow PEACE OUT! WOO HOO TO DAY OFF!!!

Injured

Strained/Sprained

It looks like I over worked my left ankle and I had to teach my dance classes and my private lesson. So I did not do Cardio Recovery so I'm going to try and do it today as well as Cardio Resistance & Power just to make up for it but I'm probably going to have to take it easy. The last thing I want to do is sprain it even more. Yesterday, I was limping, last night I put Bengay, iced it and wrapped it. Today I'm wearing a brace and hopefully I'll be able to both workouts if not I'll attempt to do at least the Cardio Recovery. And tomorrow do double. So we'll see. Until then, pray for healing for me and peace out.

Day 10 - Plyrometric Cardio Circuit

GOT THROUGH IT

I worked my butt off yesterday. Today I tried my best I lasted until the last round of basketball shots, level 1 whatever its called..I'm tired sorry body needs energy. I did all my mountain climbers, all my football sprints..which by the way my calves were in pain and too tight to keep it fast. I rubbed Bengay on my feet, my ankles, calves, hamstrings, shoulder blade, etc...my stomach hurts right now and I don't feel too good so I stopped because safety first. But I did 3/4 of the program and proud because in the beginning it wasn't a struggle I felt good about it all. So keeping this short and sweet cause I got to go to work and dance my butt off now. So til tomorrow....PEACE OUT hehe I'd send a picture but I'm a mess lol GOOD WORKOUT!!!

Day 9 - Pure Cardio

I DID IT!

I got through it tonight! I did what I said I'd do. God gave me the strength and I was able to do Pure Cardio tonight YAY! I feel so good. You were right Summer...I would feel good about completing the whole thing. I did the warm-up and the exercise. So glad...I feel stronger as well.

MY DAY

I had such a great day. I thank God for today. I had a great day at the school. My students are starting their first week of school coming back from break. I teach Latin Dance and an Intermediate Jazz class. I felt good doing the warm-ups and sit ups. Felt good. Then I had my last Wednesday classes til next weeks new start of the semester at the studio. The parents enjoyed their kids presentation of their tap routine and jazz routine for the next class. Then came home so happy I had to complete the day with PURE CARDIO. So til tomorrow PEACE OUT!!!

STRUGGLING TO GET BY

Sorry it's been a while since I wrote but here is what happen...you're probably thinking "huh? 8.5 what? I will explain. Day 6 I actually took my rest day because it was Sunday I had barely enough sleep to keep me going, I had church, work right after with no real break, 2 cups of caffeine which was no bueno but I had to because my mind was shutting down and I still had 5 hrs of work to do. So I took my rest day on Day 6.

Day 7 was a struggle. I skipped the warm-up because every time I did the warm-up I felt I couldn't do the rest of the program..It was just too much pounding on my legs, hamstrings, ankles and calves. I felt there are better safer ways to get your heart rate up so I did my own warm-up. I tried to do the exercises and barely got through it all. 

Day 8 I barely did any of it. I worked out hard with my students at work doing 4 minutes of sit-ups, stretches, etc.. but I knew I had to change my attitude quick if I wanted to get through this program. I prayed to God to give me the motivation and strength to keep going and to have a better mind set when going into this work so today is actually Day 9 but I put Day 8.5 because Day 9 is Pure Cardio which I plan doing tonight after work. I am determined to stay on track. I just gotta push through. 


CARDIO POWER & RESISTANCE

I did my own warm-up, got a good stretch in, did a 1 round of his warm-up and then kept going. I pushed through I took rests when I needed it, I rubbed Bengay on my calves, hamstrings, and quads. Then I powered through the workout determined not to stop. Power Jumps I did them all rests in between but I got through them all. The Lord helped me through. When I wanted to give up I heard in the back of my head, "Malinda get up keep going. You got this." So I got up and completed it. The mind can make you do things you don't want to do. Even if it is to better yourself but I am happy I finished the workout today. Pure Cardio is next. I have faith that I can do it. Til tonight, PEACE OUT!

Day 5 - Pure Cardio



Day 5

SURVIVAL

So I survived again. My cheeks ain't red for nothing and not a happy camper. I tried to push, but my feet and my body was like, "REALLY!? You got BENGAY on me. You need to CHILL!!" Lol! But at least I attempted to do Pure Cardio and did as much as I can. I took a few breaks tried each exercise and got through. I did this by myself and in the night instead of the day..and after work which was no bueno since I kinda ate before. 

PURE CARDIO

Of course we started out with the standard warm up to get our heart rate up. Kinda wish we did a cardio dance warm up that stretched out everything but was fun before going into Pure Cardio no breaks!!! Exercises. I hate the warm-up BUT I could do the butt kicks and the jumping jacks a lot better so something is strengthening. Mummy kicks suck and so do the heisman. Oh don't get me started on the football sprints. SMH! 
We did Suicide Drills which is a lot of run to the side and touch the ground then keep doing that over and over and over for 1 minute. The longest minute ever! Then we did Switch Kicks. Ha! more like High Kick put the foot down then kick with the other Kicks. I tried to hop and switch in between each kick but my feet and ankles hurt so I did an alternate exercise similar to it. Stance Jacks...geez how many freakin different Jacks are there...jumping jacks, stance jacks, push up jacks, cross jacks, etc... CRAZY you CRAZY!!

Eventually we went through frog jumps. power jacks, level 2 drills (which i was able to do a good amount so proud of myself), ski jumps, and upright mountain climbs. There was more but shoot I was waiting for a break. Well I made my breaks and just hoped in when I could...a lot of people in the video took breaks so I didn't feel as bad and hey! I'm on day 5 so I'm doing good. I do feel stronger and can't wait til I get back to school so I can teach my dance classes plus my insanity workouts...double the workouts...I really hope I see results after the 30 day mark and even more in my 60 day mark. 

Well Day 5 is over going to do a little DDR before my awesome hot epsom salt stress relief bath and saying til tomorrow and PEACE OUT!!

Day 4 - Cardio Recovery

NO PAIN NO GAIN

So today was a bit stressful for me, so it was nice to do some recovery. Pretty much calmed me down a bit. My quads hurt now. Recover from your hamstrings and calves being tortured but lets go ahead and make your quads hurt like hell. Yeah, my quads are in pain now. But like I said, "no pain no gain" 

 

CARDIO RECOVERY

Pretty much a lot of holding positions and breathing even though breathing only kept me calm..my quads were yelling "YOU SUCK!" But hey at least I finally worked out my quads cause the cardio circuit and cardio power and resistance did nothing for my quads so, "OK INSANITY I CAN FEEL IT NOW!" I'm going to have to stretch out my legs and soak my body in:

But its cool because then I can relax and enjoy my nice hot bath. I miss the hot water in Reno. OH MAN instant hot water is amazing. But yeah pretty much RECOVERY = YOGA. Well gotta get some food to recover and give my body some nutrients. Till tomorrow...have a blessed weekend peoples!!

Day 3 - Cardio Power & Resistance

SURVIVAL

Shoot I don't know if you call it survival, I was barely able to do all of it with my hamstrings and calves tight. I rubbed Bengay before the workout, stretched them out, but still sore as hell. I did try sneakers but they hurt my arches, then I tried barefoot w/ socks and the pressure on my feet was too much, so then I put my converses on and it was better than nothing. Took some Vitamin E, Fish Oil, and Ginkgo before my workout.

Power jumps...do you see the picture?? OMG...I could barely do these. My hamstrings and calves were like "Are you serious?? What the hell Malinda!!!" These were hard to do with sore/tight muscles. By the 3rd set I was grunting and yelling "I CAN FREAKIN" DO THIS!" I had to otherwise I'd be on the ground crying. And the warm-ups aren't even like warm-ups. I feel if my muscles were more recovered, I would be able to do this workout a lot better but hey its the first week. Just beating myself up for it. Always been my toughest critic.

These were not that bad. Log Jumps, Belt Kicks and Vertical Jumps aren't that bad. I like the 123-123 as well. I hate the High Knees and the Butt Kicks mainly cause of my soreness in my legs. This workout focused more on the core and the arms cause after we did all the Log Jumps, Belt Kicks, etc... we went to the floor and the pain began.


We went from hurdle jumps to globe jumps, then to moving push ups to floor sprints. MOVING PUSH UPS yes MALINDA MOVING PUSH UPS DO THEM!! Before all that we did Triceps Dips, V Push Ups, and  One- Legged Triceps Dips. Yeah mind you my upper body strength is no bueno. So I could barely do all that. I think yesterday was more cardio than today was but the focus today was on power and resistance so I guess it wasn't that bad. The floor sprints got hard to do at the end only cause my arms.


But you know what I did survive it all even though my mom had to feed me the water on the ground a couple times cause I couldn't get up but I'm ready for cardio recovery tomorrow. My abs, back, and legs hurt the most but hey...no pain no gain...So until tomorrow..... PEACE OUT!!

Day 2 - Plyometric Cardio Circuit

SURVIVAL

Can I just say OMG! I survived!! There was a lot I couldn't keep doing but I did attempt to get through it with a lot of rest. First off, I am completely sore from this past week of dancing at the Reno Bachata Festival which I must say was awesome! But then to go into Insanity already is like AHHH!! But I am determined to do this program and committed to finishing it. 

CARDIO CIRCUIT


To all the people that play football, I do not know how you guys do the football wide sprints. After a while my legs were like jello. I'm like "how the hell am I suppose to move my feet so fast?!" But hey its the first week I don't expect to get everything off the bat. I'll get strong.


Please tell me why jumping jacks going fast hurts? The cross jacks I could do no problem but jumping jacks that fast, are you insane???!! I guess you are since its called INSANITY! lol 


So, I woke up had a cup of water and took some fish oil before working out. I didn't want to eat anything just because I didn't want to end up throwing it up. Mom likes to work out in the morning..and I'm not a morning person so trying to workout in the morning doing this kinda sucks only because my body isn't quite ready to just jump up and go insane so hopefully when school gets back in my mom and I can start doing it before she goes to bed because there is no way I'm going to wake up at 4am to do INSANITY. 

Here I was ready to do this workout at 9am the first workout was not too bad just wish they didn't have the stupid jumping jacks...I'll need to wear sneakers next time for support. As it got faster and faster into the workout the only way I could keep going was saying "I CAN DO THIS!" and not stopping. The one workout that was really hard was you go into plank position, do 4 push ups, in plank position pick up your feet in run 8 times get up get back down and do it all over again a ton of times and the ski jumps in plank position OMG! Super hard! Hopefully, I'll be able to do them without stopping the next time I have to do the Cardio Circuit again. 

Well the journey has just begun and I'm committed and ready...I already have a few that want to do Insanity with me. Hopefully I can get a video going of myself and others doing Insanity with me. Til then I'm going to get my egg white sandwich, carrots and celery in peace know I finished Day 2. YAY!!!! See ya all tomorrow!

Day 1 - Fit Test


Day 1-Fit Test
Hello everyone! My name is Malinda if you don't already know me. I have just started on my journey to complete the 2 month insane workout of INSANITY!! My mom is doing this with me as well and of course she's more of a workout/runner. As for me, I'm a dancer most of us dancers DO NOT like working out...admit it fellow dancers its BOOORRIINNGG. But I am determined to finish this program and show you verbally, physically, emotionally, excitingly my progress through this blog. I will have pictures in my completion of the program of before and after pictures. Ooo la la! And do my best to have videos of myself and maybe others that don't mind making a fool of themselves and showing the world I've at least tired to attempt insanity. So I will keep you all posted of my results and progress through this blog.

FIT TEST

Ok so I just did the Fit Test with my mom and of course my mom works out every day so her results were a bit better than mine. At first I was like, "I got this!!" Then after the 4th exercise I was like, "Uh ok I can't do that gotta work on that" I survived it though and here are my results of how many I could do of each thing (don't know if the name of the exercises are all correct but I will continue to call them the same thing each time I give my results):

So yeah! Not too bad for having 4 days of continuous dancing in an elevation of 5,000 ft and being sore from all the dancing. I have no upper body strength...all my strength is in my legs.
